safeguarding at LBBIS

At LBBIS, the safety, wellbeing, and protection of every child is our highest priority. We are committed to creating a secure, nurturing, and supportive environment where students feel safe, valued, and empowered to learn and grow. Safeguarding is not just a policy for us; it is a culture embedded into every part of school life and shared by every member of our community.

Our Commitment

We believe that every child has the right to grow, learn, and thrive in an environment free from abuse, neglect, or exploitation. Our safeguarding practices are guided by international best practice, the principles of Keeping Children Safe in Education (KCSIE), and local child protection laws. We ensure that safeguarding is central to our decision-making, curriculum, and daily routines.

Working in Partnership

We know that safeguarding is most effective when schools, families, and the wider community work together. We maintain open communication with parents and carers, providing guidance and workshops on topics such as online safety, mental health, and recognising signs of harm. We also collaborate with local and international safeguarding organisations to ensure our practices remain effective and up to date.

Reporting and Responding

Every concern about a child’s safety is taken seriously. All staff at LBBIS are trained to recognise signs of abuse and understand how to act. Our safeguarding team ensures that any concerns are addressed immediately and appropriately. When necessary, we work closely with external agencies and child protection services to ensure that children receive the support they need.

We also encourage students to speak up if they feel unsafe, and we have trusted adults available for them to talk to. Our pastoral care and welfare systems are designed to ensure that every child knows they have a voice and will be listened to.

Safeguarding Team

Our safeguarding responsibilities are led by a highly trained and dedicated team who ensure that policies are implemented effectively and consistently across the school.

Creating a Safe Environment

We take a proactive and preventative approach to safeguarding by:
Following strict safer recruitment practices to ensure all staff and volunteers are suitable to work with children.
Providing regular and comprehensive safeguarding training for all staff, so they are confident in recognising signs of abuse, responding appropriately, and reporting concerns quickly.
Maintaining clear and up-to-date policies and procedures that are regularly reviewed and aligned with national and international standards.
Conducting detailed risk assessments for all activities, trips, and events to ensure student safety at all times.
Ensuring that our school environment, both physical and digital, is safe, inclusive, and monitored effectively.
